As part of CICE’s mission to advance diversity and equity within the climate tech sector and support a just energy transition, we’re investing up to $3 million in climate tech and clean energy ventures led by women.

CICE is focused on taking action to secure a low-carbon future. CICE recognizes that there is a gender imbalance in venture funding that can only be corrected through sustained collective effort. Our goal is to foster an environment where all individuals, regardless of gender, have equitable opportunities to participate and succeed.

Empowering founders who identify as women can unlock the potential for groundbreaking technologies, drive decarbonization efforts, and generate significant economic value. As the world moves toward net-zero emissions, diverse leadership in climate tech will be critical in shaping the future of sustainable innovation.

Investing in women founders

CICE will award up to $3 million in non-dilutive investments. These investments can maximize impact by:

  • Providing project funding to early-stage startups led by founders and co-founders in British Columbia (B.C.) who identify as women.
  • Providing flexible support options, including up to 25% upfront project capital, to accelerate solutions to their next stage of development.
  • Directly investing in hard tech decarbonization and/or soft tech enabling decarbonization solutions development to drive innovation in climate tech solutions in B.C.
  • Equipping founders with mentorship from program partners to help scale and commercialize their innovations.

The CICE Women in Climate Tech Advisory Group

“Climate change poses a serious threat but also presents a significant economic opportunity. Achieving success requires that everyone has a seat at the table, especially women founders who are currently underrepresented across the cleantech ecosystem. By ensuring diverse voices and collaborative efforts, we can develop innovative solutions and build the companies of tomorrow. CICE is committed to addressing this imbalance, recognizing that empowering women entrepreneurs is essential for a sustainable future.”

An Invitation for Partnership

To innovate and realize solutions for gender equity in climate, we believe we need to build on the knowledge within B.C. to quickly incorporate past learnings and challenge current barriers.  To achieve this outcome, we are actively seeking partnerships to finalize the scope, reach the right audiences, compound the funding, bring a diversity of perspectives to selection process, and mobilize the community to ensure the selected participants success.

We welcome the involvement of interested parties who have resources to offer and who share our passion for bringing these solutions to life. If you or your organization is interested in joining forces with us to help make a positive impact, we look forward to connecting.
