2023 Open Call for Innovation Timeline & Milestones
The Open Innovation Program helps B.C. innovators commercially develop and globally scale solutions in any of the five focus areas. Through the 2023 Open Call for Innovation, CICE anticipates funding up to $6 million to advance technologies and solutions that are at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 4-9. Companies selected for advancement will be notified by February 24th, 2023.

We are looking for changemakers that can deliver breakthrough innovation to solve ‘hard to decarbonize’ challenges.
Expression of interest (Jan 16 - Feb 10, 2023)
Tell us about your technology or solution, its potential to reduce global GHG emissions and your plan to scale globally.
Detailed project proposal (Deadline for Submission is April 7, 2023)
If you advance to the next stage, you will be notified by February 24th. At this point, CICE will request additional information and conduct detailed due diligence that involves a third party investment committee.
Decision Communicated (By June 1st, 2023)
Successful applicants will be notified by May 12th. Funding will be awarded by June 1, 2023.

In addition to CICE’s Open Innovation funding program, we pursue potential projects through our Directed Innovation funding pathway. Our Directed Innovation program is designed to identify specific projects in each of CICE’s five focus areas, to solve hard to decarbonize challenges and acclerate the world towards net-negative emissions. The Directed Innovation program aligns with CICE’s broader objectives to ultimately reduce emissions, strengthen end-to-end value chains, and accelerate economic growth within each sector.
